Jamie Raskin was made for this fight

This is a profile piece for the Washingtonian magazine on Jamie Raskin, a Democratic politician of Maryland's 8th congressional district since 2017.

Publication Design   Agency: Washingtonian

The brief was to portray the politician as not only being a hero with his efforts against Trump, but also a vulnerable human overcoming personal tragedies like his son’s death and recovering from cancer twice. The tone of voice reflected his passion and perseverance to fight. Therefore, the designs took inspiration from fighting poster typography. It also uses stamps as additional type textures that allude to the government.

Following are a few iterations of the feature opener. The title of the story began with The Dignity and Grace of Jamie Raskin, which led to some elegant typography. But the story eventually shifted to a grittier perspective, which was then reflected in the final version.
